Light Mosaic Artist

Polarized light bends and refracts as it travels through birefringent materials, creating a vibrant, kaleidoscope of changing colors. Each section contains a different thickens of material causing the spectrum of light frequencies to refract and travel at different rates. The result of these refracted rays is an emergence of various colors as the polarizer cycles through.

In Pine Creek Canyon’s Winter Day, the top panel of polarizers is rotated by hand, giving the effect of time passing through the mountain range. The viewer manually turns the clock causing the winter sun rises and sets the sky, rocks, and snow changes in color.
